You should not submit:

  • Articles copied from another publication;
  • Plagiarised material;
  • Copyrighted photographs without permission;
  • AI-generated material represented as entirely original human work where such representation would be misleading;
  • Material submitted without the necessary authority;
  • Material that unlawfully reproduces another person’s work.

Contributors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not infringe third-party rights.

CLNN may use plagiarism or originality checks where appropriate.

AI-Assisted Content

CLNN recognises that writers may use technology and artificial-intelligence tools as part of their research or drafting process.

However, contributors remain responsible for the final submission.

AI tools must not be used to:

  1. Fabricate facts;
  2. Invent sources;
  3. Create false quotations;
  4. Manufacture evidence;
  5. Misrepresent events;
  6. Produce plagiarised material;
  7. Mislead readers about the origin or accuracy of information.

Where AI assistance materially affects a submission, CLNN may request appropriate disclosure or additional verification.

Accuracy & Verification

Contributors are expected to take reasonable steps to verify factual information before submission.

Particular care should be taken with:

  1. Names;
  2. Dates;
  3. Statistics;
  4. Legal provisions;
  5. Court judgments;
  6. Government decisions;
  7. Quotes;

  9. Allegations;
  10. Photographs and captions.

Publication of a contributor’s article does not relieve the contributor of responsibility for knowingly false or misleading information.

Legal & Court-Related Contributions

CLNN welcomes contributions concerning law and the judiciary, but legal articles must be prepared responsibly.

Contributors should clearly distinguish between:

  1. Facts and opinions;
  2. Allegations and findings;
  3. Submissions of parties and observations of the court;
  4. Pending proceedings and final decisions;
  5. Legal analysis and established law.

Court orders, judgments and statutory provisions should be accurately cited wherever appropriate.

Contributors should avoid presenting a person as guilty merely because allegations, an FIR, an investigation or criminal proceedings exist.

Opinion Articles

CLNN welcomes strong and independent opinions.

An opinion article may criticise:

  1. Government policies;
  2. Public institutions;
  3. Political decisions;
  4. Corporate practices;
  5. Social developments;
  6. Laws and regulations;
  7. Public figures.

However, opinion should not be used as a vehicle for knowingly false factual allegations, hate speech, threats, harassment or unlawful content.

CLNN is not required to provide an individual explanation for every rejected submission.

Promotional and Commercial Content

Contributions should not be disguised advertising.

An article primarily promoting a business, product, service, professional practice or organisation may be considered commercial content rather than an independent editorial contribution.

Where appropriate, CLNN may direct the contributor or organisation toward:

  1. Sponsored Content;
  2. Brand Partnership;
  3. Advertising;
  4. Press Release Submission.

Commercial relationships do not guarantee independent editorial coverage.

Contributor Rights & Responsibilities

Contributors remain responsible for the accuracy and originality of their submissions.

By submitting material, contributors grant CLNN the permissions necessary to review, edit, publish, reproduce and distribute accepted material through CLNN’s digital platforms, subject to the applicable submission terms or agreement.

Specific ownership, licensing, exclusivity or payment arrangements may be agreed separately where applicable.

Contributors should retain copies of their original work and relevant supporting material.

Payment

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, submission does not create an entitlement to payment.

Certain commissioned assignments or professional contributions may be subject to separate commercial arrangements.

CLNN will communicate applicable terms before undertaking paid commissioned work.

Contributor Conduct

Contributors associated with CLNN are expected to maintain professional standards.

Contributors should not:

  1. Fabricate information;
  2. Plagiarise;
  3. Misrepresent their identity or qualifications;
  4. Deliberately deceive readers;
