Connect Live News Network (CLNN) is committed to responsible journalism, transparency, accountability and fair treatment of readers, viewers, sources, contributors and other stakeholders.
This Grievance Redressal Policy provides a clear mechanism for raising concerns regarding content published by CLNN, editorial practices, community interactions, privacy, copyright, advertising, user submissions or other matters connected with our digital publication.
We encourage individuals to raise genuine concerns so that they can be reviewed fairly and, where appropriate, corrected or resolved.

1. Purpose of This Policy
The purpose of this Policy is to establish a transparent process through which a person may submit a grievance concerning CLNN.
A grievance may relate to:
- Accuracy or factual errors in a published report;
- Misleading or materially incomplete reporting;
- Alleged lack of fairness or balance;
- Privacy concerns;
- Identification of individuals in sensitive circumstances;
- Reporting concerning children or vulnerable persons;
- Court and criminal reporting;
- Alleged defamation or reputational harm;
- Copyright or intellectual-property concerns;
- User-generated content;
- Community moderation;
- Advertising or sponsored content;
- Website functionality or accessibility;
- Alleged violation of CLNN’s Editorial Policy, Code of Ethics or other published policies.
This mechanism is intended to provide an opportunity for concerns to be reviewed and addressed appropriately. It does not restrict any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
2. Who Can Submit a Grievance?
A grievance may be submitted by a person who is directly affected by CLNN content or conduct, including:
- Individuals mentioned in a report;
- Individuals whose privacy may have been affected;
- Representatives or authorised persons;
- Readers and viewers;
- Sources or contributors;
- Copyright owners;
- Persons affected by user-generated content;
- Advertisers or commercial partners concerning relevant matters;
- Other persons with a legitimate and identifiable concern.
Where a complaint is submitted on behalf of another person, CLNN may request reasonable information establishing the complainant’s authority to act on that person’s behalf.
3. What Should a Grievance Contain?
To allow an effective review, a grievance should provide as much relevant information as reasonably possible.
A complaint should ordinarily include:
1. Name of the complainant
The person raising the grievance should identify themselves.
2. Contact information
An email address or telephone number through which CLNN can communicate regarding the complaint.
3. Specific content or issue
Provide the headline, article title, publication date, URL or other identifying information.
4. Nature of the grievance
Clearly explain what is believed to be inaccurate, unfair, inappropriate, unlawful or otherwise problematic.
5. Supporting information
Where available, provide documents, records, links or other information supporting the grievance.
6. Requested resolution
Explain what action is being requested, such as a correction, clarification, review, removal or right of reply.
Specific and evidence-based complaints are easier to investigate than general expressions of dissatisfaction.
4. How to Submit a Grievance
Grievances may be submitted directly to CLNN using the contact details below:

Where a grievance concerns a specific published article, the complainant should preferably include the article URL and clearly identify the disputed statement or material.
5. Acknowledgement of Grievances
CLNN will endeavour to acknowledge receipt of a grievance within a reasonable period.
An acknowledgement may:
- Confirm receipt;
- Identify the general nature of the complaint;
- Request additional information where necessary;
- Explain the expected review process;
- Refer the matter to the appropriate editorial, legal or administrative team.
An acknowledgement does not mean that CLNN has accepted the allegations made in the grievance.
6. Review and Investigation
Each genuine grievance will be considered on its circumstances and available evidence.
Depending on the nature of the complaint, CLNN may review:
- The original source material;
- Reporter notes or available editorial records;
- Publicly available documents;
- Court orders and official records;
- Statements from relevant parties;
- Photographs, videos or other evidence;
- The publication’s editorial context;
- Applicable law and professional journalistic standards.
CLNN may contact the complainant for clarification or additional information.
Where appropriate, CLNN may also seek a response from the person, organisation or source concerned.
7. Accuracy and Factual Errors
CLNN takes factual accuracy seriously.
Where a material factual error is established, CLNN may take appropriate corrective action, which may include:
- Correcting the relevant statement;
- Adding a clarification;
- Updating the report;
- Correcting a headline;
- Correcting an image caption;
- Updating a photograph or video description;
- Publishing a correction notice;
- Republishing corrected information where appropriate.
Corrections will be handled in accordance with CLNN’s Corrections Policy.
A disagreement with an article’s interpretation or conclusion does not automatically establish a factual error.
8. Right of Reply
Where appropriate, a person or organisation that is the subject of significant criticism or allegations may be given an opportunity to provide a response.
A response may be considered for inclusion or publication where it is:
- Relevant;
- Material;
- Substantive;
- Factually supportable;
- Lawful;
- Consistent with editorial standards.
The existence of a right to respond does not guarantee publication of every statement submitted.
CLNN may edit responses for length, clarity, legal compliance and editorial standards without materially altering their substance.
9. Complaints Concerning Criminal and Court Reporting
Complaints concerning criminal cases and judicial proceedings will be treated with particular care.
CLNN distinguishes, where relevant, between:
- Allegations and established facts;
- Investigation and adjudication;
- Arrest and conviction;
- Charges and findings of guilt;
- Submissions of parties and findings of the court;
- Court observations and final decisions.
Where a report contains an established factual error concerning a judicial proceeding, CLNN may issue an appropriate correction or clarification.
A complainant should provide the relevant court order, judgment or official record where the complaint concerns the accuracy of a legal report.
10. Privacy and Personal Information Complaints
A person may raise a grievance if they believe CLNN has improperly published personal or private information.
Such complaints may concern:
- Personal contact information;
- Residential information;
- Private photographs;
- Sensitive personal information;
- Information concerning children;
- Information relating to victims or vulnerable individuals;
- Unnecessary identification of private persons.
CLNN will consider privacy complaints in light of the public-interest value of the information, the circumstances of publication, applicable law and relevant editorial standards.
11. Defamation and Reputation-Related Complaints
A person who believes that a CLNN publication contains a false and materially harmful allegation may submit a grievance.
The complaint should identify:
- The exact statement concerned;
- Why the statement is allegedly false;
- The relevant factual position;
- Supporting documents or evidence;
- Any response or clarification the complainant wishes CLNN to consider.
CLNN may seek clarification or supporting material before taking editorial action.
A complaint alleging reputational harm does not automatically require removal of a report. Newsworthy and accurately reported information may remain published where there is a legitimate editorial or public-interest basis.
12. Copyright Complaints
Copyright owners may contact CLNN if they believe material published on CLNN infringes their copyright.
A copyright grievance should ordinarily identify:
- The copyrighted work;
- Evidence of ownership or authority;
- The allegedly infringing material;
- The location of the material on CLNN;
- The basis of the infringement claim;
- Contact information for further communication.
Copyright complaints will be considered under CLNN’s Copyright Policy and applicable Indian law.
13. Community and User-Generated Content Complaints
Complaints concerning comments, user submissions or other community content may be reviewed under CLNN’s Community Guidelines and User Agreement.
Depending on the circumstances, CLNN may:
- Remove content;
- Restrict content;
- Request clarification;
- Limit an account’s participation;
- Retain content where necessary for legal or investigative reasons;
- Take other appropriate action.
The fact that a user disagrees with an opinion does not by itself constitute a valid moderation grievance.
14. Advertising and Sponsored Content
Concerns relating to advertising, sponsored material or commercial communications may be submitted to CLNN.
CLNN seeks to maintain an appropriate distinction between editorial content and commercial communication.
Where a legitimate concern is identified, CLNN may review the relevant material and take appropriate action.
15. Anonymous Complaints
CLNN may consider anonymous grievances where they contain credible and sufficiently specific information, particularly where the matter involves significant public interest, safety or potential wrongdoing.
However, anonymous complaints may be more difficult to investigate because CLNN may be unable to obtain clarification or supporting information.
Where appropriate, CLNN may request contact information while taking reasonable steps to protect confidentiality consistent with applicable law and editorial requirements.
16. Confidentiality
CLNN will handle grievance-related information responsibly.
Information provided during a grievance review may be shared internally with the relevant editorial, legal or administrative personnel where necessary to assess and resolve the matter.
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where disclosure is:
- Required by law;
- Required pursuant to a lawful order;
- Necessary to protect safety or legal rights;
- Necessary to investigate suspected unlawful conduct;
- Otherwise permitted or required under applicable law.
17. Protection Against Retaliation
CLNN does not intend to penalise a person merely for submitting a genuine grievance in good faith.
A person should be able to raise a legitimate editorial or legal concern without fear of retaliation.
However, deliberately false complaints, fabricated evidence, threats, harassment or abusive communications may themselves be subject to appropriate action.
18. Matters Outside the Grievance Process
The grievance mechanism is not intended to function as a general platform for:
- Personal disputes unrelated to CLNN;
- Political campaigning;
- Repeated demands to remove accurate public-interest reporting;
- Threats against journalists or staff;
- Abusive communications;
- Attempts to manipulate editorial decisions;
- Frivolous or repetitive complaints that have already been considered.
Where a matter is clearly outside the scope of this Policy, CLNN may decline to process it as a formal grievance.
19. Outcome of a Grievance
After reviewing a grievance, CLNN may determine that:
- The complaint is substantiated and corrective action is appropriate;
- The complaint is partially substantiated and limited action is appropriate;
- Additional information is required;
- The published material is accurate and no correction is necessary;
- The matter requires further editorial or legal review;
- The matter falls outside the scope of the grievance mechanism.
Where reasonably possible, CLNN will communicate the outcome or status of the review to the complainant.
The precise details of internal editorial deliberations, confidential sources or legally protected information may not be disclosed.
20. Corrections, Clarifications and Retractions
CLNN recognises that different errors require different responses.
A minor typographical error may be corrected without a formal correction notice.
A material factual error may warrant a visible correction or clarification.
A report may require more substantial action where its central premise is demonstrated to be materially false or fundamentally unreliable.
Retraction is reserved for circumstances in which it is editorially and legally appropriate.
Such decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
21. Escalation
If a complainant believes that a grievance has not been appropriately addressed, they may request a further review by explaining why the initial response is considered inadequate and providing any additional relevant information.
Escalated matters may be reviewed by a senior editorial or legal representative, depending on the nature of the grievance.
Nothing in this Policy prevents a person from exercising any statutory, regulatory or judicial remedy available under applicable law.
22. Response Times
CLNN aims to deal with grievances as efficiently as reasonably possible.
The time required may depend on:
- The complexity of the complaint;
- The number of issues raised;
- Availability of relevant records;
- The need to verify documents;
- The need to contact third parties;
- Legal or regulatory considerations;
- Whether the matter concerns ongoing proceedings.
Urgent matters involving immediate safety, serious privacy concerns, suspected unlawful content or significant factual errors may be prioritised.
23. Good-Faith Use of the Process
The grievance mechanism should be used honestly and responsibly.
Users should not submit grievances:
- To harass journalists or staff;
- To suppress lawful public-interest reporting;
- To make knowingly false allegations;
- To submit fabricated evidence;
- To repeatedly reopen resolved matters without new information;
- To threaten or intimidate CLNN personnel.
CLNN reserves the right to restrict communications that are abusive, threatening or manifestly unreasonable.
24. Relationship With Other CLNN Policies
This Grievance Redressal Policy operates alongside CLNN’s other policies and does not replace them.
Depending on the nature of the matter, the following policies may also apply:
- Editorial Policy;
- Code of Ethics;
- Corrections Policy;
- Community Guidelines;
- User Agreement;
- Privacy Policy;
- Copyright Policy;
- Fair Use Policy;
- Terms & Conditions;
- Disclaimer;
- Cookie Policy.
Where a grievance concerns a specific subject, the relevant policy may provide additional procedures or standards.
25. Changes to This Policy
CLNN may periodically update this Grievance Redressal Policy to reflect changes in applicable law, regulatory requirements, editorial standards, technology or internal procedures.
The latest version will be published on this page with its applicable revision date.
